Welcome to AWANA at Calvary Baptist
Building a foundation of faith, one verse at a time.

AWANA at Calvary Baptist is one of Bedford's most active children's ministry programs — and we would love for your child to be part of it. Each Wednesday evening during the school year, kids from preschool through sixth grade gather for an energetic, Bible-centered experience that combines Scripture memory, games, leadership development, and genuine fun.

AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed — drawn from 2 Timothy 2:15. It is one of the most trusted children's discipleship programs in the world. At Calvary, we have seen children grow in confidence, character, and faith through this program year after year.

Our AWANA Clubs
Age-appropriate discipleship for every child!

We offer three clubs every Wednesday evening, each designed to meet your child right where they are:

  • Cubbies Ages 3-5 Cubbies introduces young children to the love of God through simple Bible stories, songs, and hands-on activities in a warm, nurturing environment.
  • Sparks Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Sparks ignites a love for God's Word through Scripture memory, exciting handbooks, and weekly games that make learning the Bible an adventure.
  • Truth & Training (T&T)3rd through 6th Grade T&T challenges older kids to dig deeper into Scripture, memorize key passages, and apply Biblical truth to their everyday lives.

A Safe Place for Your Child
Background checked, trained, and genuinely invested in your kids.

Every AWANA volunteer at Calvary Baptist has completed a background check and received training before working with children. Your child's safety is not an afterthought — it is a priority we take seriously.

AWANA Highlights
More than memorizing verses - a year full of memorable moments.

Family Fun Fair — Each September we kick off the new AWANA year with our Family Fun Fair, a community celebration open to the whole family. It is a great first introduction to Calvary for families who are curious about our church.

AWANA Grand Prix — Our beloved annual pinewood derby-style racing event where clubbers and their families compete, cheer, and celebrate together. It is one of the most anticipated nights of the year.

Awards Night — At the close of each year we celebrate every child's growth and hard work with a special recognition ceremony. It is a proud moment for kids and parents alike.

AWANA Store — Clubbers earn AWANA bucks throughout the year by completing handbook goals and demonstrating good character. They can spend their bucks at our AWANA Store on special store nights — a favorite incentive that kids absolutely love.
