We believe that Christ, just before He ascended into Heaven, established the goal of each local church. He gave us the Great Commission, which states...
"...All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. GO YE therefore and TEACH all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: TEACHING them to OBSERVE all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." - Matthew 28:18b-20
The life of a believer is all about spiritual growth. We are to grow in our knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We gain that knowledge by diligent study of God's Word. Thus, all we preach and teach is centered around Scripture. From our nursery to our worship services, we do nothing but teach God's Word. We are about encouraging believers to read, study, meditate, and memorize God's Word with the intent of living obediently befoe Him.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, ofr instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" 2 Timothy 3:16-17
The command from Christ was quite clear. He said, "Go ye..." We are obligated to spread the Gospel far and wide. Later, in Acts 1:8, Christ was specific saying that we should be witnesses for Him in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth. At Calvary Baptist Church, we are determined to fufill Christ's command to go.
"And he said unto them, Go ye in all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
God's desire is that each believer use their talents for Him. We serve through the local church as we minister before the Lord and others. There all kinds of opportunities to serve the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church. Opportunities such as greeting people at the door, teaching or assisting a children's class, singing or playing a music instrument, or just helping to take care of the beautiful church campus God has given us. There is nothing more fulfilling than using your time and talents for the Lord and others.
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” Ephesians 4:11–13
